SUMMARY:Point In Time Count
DESCRIPTION:It’s time for the PIT count everyone! Every year in January\, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires each state to complete a count of people who are unhoused. In Michigan this count takes place on the last Wednesday in January every year.  \nWe need help from our entire community. Our goal is to have surveys conducted throughout all of St. Clair County at shelters\, senior centers\, food pantries\, walk-in clinics\, soup kitchens\, counseling centers\, hospitals\, 24-hour businesses\, police departments and any/all other human service agencies that encounter people who are experiencing homelessness. \n \nVolunteers are also needed that day to canvass the county to identify those who may be living or sleeping outdoors. Ideally\, 16 people are needed for each time slot. We are asking you to come and help take part in this street count by signing up now to help between 7am and 5pm. The HARA is the lead agency for the PIT count and is located at Blue Water Community Action\, 3403 Lapeer Rd\, Port Huron\, MI 48060. We have broken the day into 2-hour increments\, and you may sign up for more than one time slot or the entire day if you wish. Those time slots are 7-9 am\, 9-11 am\, 11-1 pm\, 1-3 pm and 3-5 pm. You will report first to the HARA\, where you will be given an assigned area so that we can make sure the entire county is covered. \nPlease email the Hara at HARA@bwcaa.org with your preferred time(s). We look forward to working with you on this very important mission! \n\nTo learn more about the PIT count please visit Point-in-Time Count and Housing Inventory Count – HUD Exchange.\n*BWCA is an equal opportunity provider.
