Low Income Home Renovation
The Home Rehab & Repair Program is designed to revitalize and strengthen residential neighborhoods through the renovation of low to moderate income, owner-occupied homes. This program is made possible through a collaborative effort between Blue Water Community Action and St. Clair County Metropolitan Planning Commission with funding coming from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
Since 1996, BWCA has invested over $1,500,000 and rehabilitated more than 127 homes in St. Clair County (excluding the City of Port Huron).
Home Rehab & Repair Program offers a 0% Interest Deferred Loan to address emergency repairs on their home. This loan does not have to be paid back until the title of the home changes names or the home is sold. Types of eligible repairs would be furnace replacement, roof replacement, well or septic replacement, any other emergency issues, etc.
Program participants will be required to meet program guidelines and be agreeable to repayment terms (if applicable). Some of the guidelines are you must meet the current income guidelines, live in the home for one year, home cannot be located within the City of Port Huron, and home cannot be in foreclosure. Please call for more information on the guidelines. Liens are placed on any home receiving funding.
