Youth Financial Literacy

The FREE Youth Financial Literacy class provides teens, ages 14-19, with six hours (typically split between two sessions) of classroom education. The class covers the following topics: money management, borrowing, earning power, financial services, investing, and insurance. Based on funding availability, participants are provided with a meal during each class. Once youth complete all six hours of education, they receive a certificate. Based on funding availability, this certificate allows the teens to open a savings account in their name at Chemical Bank or Eastern Michigan Bank. BWCA will deposit $50 into this account to assist participants start to save. Additionally, youth also receive a $30 gift card to Walmart for their participation and to help with any expenses related to traveling to and from class. This class is open to St. Clair and Sanilac County residents.
